If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now - even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of You & I. Good or bad, it can be anything you want. When you're finished, post this on your blog. You'll be surprised (or mortified) about what others remember about you.
A recent event in my life has led me to ponder over the complexities of friendship and what makes a good friend. Surely this differs for everybody, but my opinion of a good friend, in summary, is someone who is not afraid to be blunt when you're taking a wrong turn, stands up for your name and most importantly, accepts you as you are, quirks, flaws and all. Last week it hit me that everything wasn't peachy between me and 2 close (or rather, previously close) friends when I wasn't invited to a birthday celebration (funny enough, others were led to believe that I didn't want to attend). I decided to broach the subject a few days later and the response was both surprising and disappointing, because it was implied that I was totally at fault with the thawing of the friendship. But a friendship is supposed to be a mutual effort of sustaining that bond and steady flow of communication. It takes two hands to clap, and the fact that my attempt to come forth and ask, "what's wrong? what can I do to make it better?" to try and mend the situation wasn't recognised as an act of appreciation of the value of said friendship left me feeling a little bitter. Which brings me to another point. You might not recognise it or be around to see it, but that doesn't mean someone's appreciation of a friendship isn't there. Many times when others say something that isn't true or diminishes your name, I have stood up for you. When you were going too far to please someone, I was straight with you and told you to stop (even though you wouldnt listen and said I was naggy). Everything you've told me regarding personal matters I've kept in confidentiality, because isn't that a key component in the foundation of friendship? Trust? I am sincerely sorry if I haven't been around much, and that I've made you feel like I don't put in effort or value the friendship. I seriously am at a loss here, because you refuse to talk to me and tell me what's wrong, giving very vague answers, and then insinuate we were never close to begin with. There is honestly nothing I can do about it if you don't want to make the effort as well, and because of that you're saying the problem is me not doing anything. But here I am reaching out and asking you where you feel the problem lies so that I can fix it, and you aren't even TRYING to meet me in the middle. So who's being more disappointing here? If you're really that content giving up and letting our friendship slip away, then yes, maybe we weren't as close as we thought.

We're not the same, dear, as we used to be The seasons have changed and so have we There was little we could say and even less that we could do To stop the ice from getting thinner under me and you
We buried our love in the wintery grave A lump in the snow was all that remained But we stayed by its side, as the days turned to weeks And the ice kept getting thinner with every word that we'd speak
When the spring arrived, we were taken by surprise When the flows under our feet bled into the sea And nothing was left for you and me
We're not the same dear and it seems to me There's nowhere we can go with nothing underneath Then it saddens me to say what we both knew was true That the ice was getting thinner under me and you

What flavour is rainbow paddlepop???? This question's been bugging me since I was a kid, and it suddenly popped into my head again when Miho and I were talking about how appetising (or not) rainbow cupcakes look. She thinks it's supposed to be milk flavoured, but I always felt it had a generic sugary taste. Seriously though, does anyone know?

Yeah I know I should be sleeping by now, seeing how I'm still plagued by a nasty cold, but after almost 2 whole days of being confined to bed I'm wide awake (albeit still on the bed). Anyway, in between helping KL research abstract expressionist artists, I decided to play with the StumbleUpon toolbar I downloaded a few days ago and stumbled-upon this parenting manual. Funniest thing I've seen in a while! Literally had me rolling around on bed laughing (ROBL). Hahahaha. Tue, Mar. 18th, 2008, 02:44 am
The Awareness Test. Part of UK's cycling safety campaign. Mon, Mar. 10th, 2008, 11:04 pm
Broken Social Scene was amazing. So fucking amazing. I mean we were all expecting a great show, but MAN, they sound even better live and have a brilliant sense of humour. Hahaha the part where they took digs at the frequency of fans asking where Feist is AND started singing part of 1,2,3,4 really set the crowd off. Fire Eye'd Boy got me bouncing in my seat. Aaaaaaaaahhhh I'd KILL to be one of the lucky ones right in front!!! Nothing could make this any better, except maybe if the retard of a girl behind us quit shouting "YOU SUCK SHUT UP!! GET OFF THE STAGE!" towards the end. Why would you pay 60 bucks to watch a band you don't like and be an ass about it?
Speaking of which, a few singaporeans up front actually left halfway through the set, and I don't mean pop-into-the-toilet left, I mean not-into-this left. I can never understand that kind of behaviour. Not only have they wasted money, but they probably cost some other fans who didn't book early their seats. Real smart.
Anyway, watching BSS live only makes me want to catch them twice more at least. Nearer seats this time! Oh yes, and vids will be up on facebook and youtube soon. Thu, Mar. 6th, 2008, 12:37 am
Squeaking swings and tall grass The longest shadows ever cast The water's warm and children swim And we frolicked about in our summer skin
I don't recall a single care Just greenery and humid air Then Labor Day came and went And we shed what was left of our summer skin
On the night you left, I came over And we peeled the freckles from our shoulders Our brand new coats were so flushed and pink And I knew your heart I couldn't win Because the season's change was a conduit And we'd left our love in our summer skin
Pretty lazy holiday so far. The guys just discovered skype and now almost every night is spent on conference's till morning. Even when we're off doing our own stuff, the hum of static feels like company.
Shuk, Heikal and I semi-celebrated our Beat! Anniversary last friday with the fsv bunch. Marked my first time visiting homeclub in a few months. Who knows, another night or two there and maybe it'll return to being my own special hideaway from life's rigors again. Nevertheless, probably the best beat! I've had in a while, the last few times kinda fell flat on mood.
Another upside of being school-less - more time for gigs! It's starting to feel like last year's period before attachment when all I did was skive and go to as many gigs as possible. Definitely hands down one of the best months of last year that's begging to be relived. 'Cept this year's gonna be more awesome 'cause of my new toy, the nifty little sony cybershot dsc-t70 :D. Tested it out during last saturday's Waterfront gig and the vids turned out pretty good, so I'm really looking forward to get more down.
Speaking of Waterfront gig, the energy for cesspit and plainsunset was so AWESOME. Pity I could only take one vid of Plainsunset, my second attempt only got through the opening bars before getting insanely shaky from the pushing. My first time smack front centre in the mosh pit all through the gig was positively exhilerating, dancing to the music while holding ground amidst rough jostling/punching/kicks to the head from crowdsurfers. After that I felt so free I couldn't care less about being drenched in sweat (mostly other people's :p),aching all over and having pebbles stuck in my shoes. Although I was kinda upset that my flats got muddy coz I forgot how gravelly the floor would be. From now on I'm sticking to chucks. But nevermind! No pain no gain. Heikal can testify with this lol.
This is my favourite cesspit song and probably the best morning alarm to start the day off upbeat. =D

Oooh darling who needs the rain? Who needs somebody that can feel your pain? Who needs the disappointment, of a telephone call, not I No I don't need that at all, not I
I'm, tired of love Yeah, sick of love I've taken more than enough
Oooh darling who needs joy? Who needs a perfect girl or boy? And who needs to draw, that person near, not I Because they always disappear, not I
Valentine's day is, quite frankly, overrated. That's why I'd much rather stay in my room and avoid the stampede of googly eyed couples with pointless flowers that will wither up and die by the end of the day anyway, balloons that get in everyone's way and other overcommercialised tokens of "love". Real love, if existent, doesn't need an allocated day to be expressed.
Of course, I still love you guys! =))

Haha bare knuckle 3 was the coolest shit when I was 5! I remember begging my bro to let me play with him back when I didn't know the controls and kept hitting B all the way, even when the screen's clear of enemies and I'd end up aimlessly punching air. Luring baddies to the holes and knocking them in the construction site stage used to make me really happy. Not that I'm violent ok! Beating people up is only fun in pixel world. Hahahahaha. Ahhh good ol' sega genesis, how I wish mine still worked! Watching this really makes me feel like playing. Not to forget all the stuff you learn from old school beat em up games: 1. No matter where you are, you can count on plates of chicken and pumpkin lying around for you to eat (i.e sit on) 2. Said food items miraculously save you from the brink of death instantly. 3. After each stage, all other playable characters turn up out of nowhere for cut-scenes. 4. Getting hit consecutively by 5 bullets is not enough to kill you, and you'll NEVER need medical attention. 5. Never underestimate the power of a muscle mary with a leather fetish, he can bitchslap bosses to death in record time. Thu, Jan. 31st, 2008, 01:53 am
